Delta Laser Measurements and Industries

Runout

Runout leads to excessive wear and tear on bearings and shafts and is a sign of poor manufacturing quality.  It is possible to have good overall alignment between parts, but still have a runout problem.  Don't overlook it! Before performing alignment on shafts and spindles, it is best to check for runout first.

Runout measurements such as OD and ID Radial Runout, TIR, "Face" Runout or wobble are easier and faster with a DELTA LASER compared to mechanical methods.  Set up the Delta Laser for quick periodic checks or leave it running for continuous monitoring.   It can be used on high speed shafts (2000 rpm +) and BLUE Delta lasers on high temp surfaces (500 C +).

Position/Displacement/Distance

It's in the name.  Displacement lasers measure displacement, or a change in distance.  Use to monitor the position and motion of an object in real-time.  Other uses such as measuring step changes, thickness changes, liquid levels in a tank, shape profiling, and surface wear are all possible.  Use in areas where mechanical methods are impractical or in automation for faster inspection and quality control.

The DELTA LASER can also be calibrated to a known distance and then used to measure distance directly.

Parallel

Two surfaces are parallel when the distance between is the same at all points.  Place a Delta Laser on one surface and aim at the opposite surface, then zero out the reading.  Move to the next point and the change in distance measurement indicates how parallel the surfaces are.  Adjust the surfaces until they are parallel.  Use the Delta Laser to align rails parallel, press platens and more.  Multiple Delta Lasers make the process go even faster!

The standard DELTA LASER kit includes magnetic mounts with posts and fixtures, so the Delta Laser position can be adjusted to accommodate a range of spaces between surfaces and platens.  Utilize the analog outputs for for automated and robotic alignments as well.

Flatness

Flatness or waviness is a great DELTA LASER application for various materials on an automated inspection line.

Utilize the analog outputs for for integration into data loggers and monitoring systems.  Set pass/fail limit criteria and trigger alarms  for out of spec parts.

Great for manufacturing, composites, building and construction materials, automotive, packaging industries.

Automation and Robotics

Embed the Delta Laser into robotics and automation systems for repeatable X, Y, and Z positioning.

The DELTA LASER provides continuous positioning measurement at 0.3 ms and 0.0001" max resolution.  Utilize the analog outputs for integration into control systems.
